Why Broadway Grand Rapids Hired Us
Broadway Grand Rapids was originally an extension of the Michigan State University but both sides were ready to split off. Shoreline Technology Solutions (STS) was brought in as a referral from another company I did work for in Grand Rapids and met with the Broadway GR team over a year before being able to help with the split. We started work on Broadway GR’s network around 2013.
Business Manager at Broadway Grand Rapids, Connie McKinney, explained “We were seeking an organization to provide tech support to our office of 6 people. We had a relationship with the Michigan State University IT Department from 2010-2014. As we approached the end of 2014, it became clear they could not provide prompt response to our computer technology needs, so we decided to seek a local organization to provide better service.”
How STS Fixed Their Problem
The project started out complicated in the fact that all of the machines and software licenses were owned by MSU so we needed to provide all new computers, servers, software, and wireless / firewalls.
“The show must go on” has been a theme we have helped Broadway GR achieve. When Covid hit in 2019 and the season needed to be shut down we found some donation licensing from Microsoft to help offset some of their expense as well as improve their feature set. We also helped with their billing rate as we know when no shows are currently going it is a hard time to raise rates.
“The transition from MSU IT services was only the beginning,” Connie explains. “Our business has grown substantially since then…with broadening information requirements due to increased business.”
